Privacy Policy

Last updated: 31-07-2026

In short

We collect your name, phone number and email address when you buy a ticket, plus basic technical information from your device. We use it to sell you the ticket, get you into the event, and support you if something goes wrong. Payments are handled by Paynow, not by us. We do not sell your information and we do not send you marketing unless you ask for it. The full detail is below.

1. Who we are and who is responsible

YoTicketAfrica is a ticketing platform operated by Your Sound Africa Private Limited.

Your Sound Africa is the data controller for personal information collected through YoTicketAfrica. This means we decide what information is collected and what it is used for, and we are responsible for looking after it.

If you have any question about this policy or about your information, our privacy contact is:

4. Payments through Paynow

Payments are processed externally by Paynow Zimbabwe. When you check out, you are directed to Paynow to complete your payment, and Paynow handles your payment information under its own systems and its own privacy policy. We receive only a payment-status update back from Paynow, along with the reference for your order.

YoTicketAfrica never collects or stores your mobile-money PIN, your online-banking password, your card PIN, your CVV, or your full payment-card number. No one at YoTicketAfrica will ever ask you for these, by phone, WhatsApp, email or any other means. If someone claiming to be from YoTicketAfrica asks you for a PIN or password, it is not us — please report it to us immediately.

5. Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information to anyone. We share it only in the following situations.

Event organisers. We provide the organiser of the event you are attending with the information they need to run the event and admit you — typically your name, the ticket type you bought and your check-in status. Once an organiser receives this information, they are independently responsible for how they handle it, and their own privacy practices apply. We require organisers by agreement not to use your contact details to send you marketing unless you have separately agreed to receive it. If you want to know how a particular organiser handles your information, contact them directly, or contact us and we will point you to them.

Venue and admission personnel. Staff working the entrance at your event use our scanning tools to check tickets. They see only what is needed to admit you.

Service providers who work on our behalf. These fall into the following categories:

  • Website and database hosting
  • Email delivery, used to send you your ticket and service messages
  • SMS or WhatsApp messaging, where used for ticket delivery or support
  • Payment processing (Paynow, as described above)

These providers act on our instructions and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.

Where the law requires it. We may disclose information where we are required to by law, regulation, court order, a lawful law-enforcement request, or another lawful regulatory process.

If our business changes hands. If Your Sound Africa is sold, merged or reorganised, customer information may transfer as part of that business. We will tell you before this happens and this policy will continue to apply until you are given notice of any change.

6. Sending information outside Zimbabwe

Some of the service providers described above operate outside Zimbabwe. This means your information may be stored or processed in the United States.

Where information leaves Zimbabwe, we take steps intended to make sure it remains protected to a comparable standard, including selecting providers who offer recognised security and data protection commitments, and putting contractual protections in place with them.

7. How long we keep your information

InformationHow long we keep it
Order, ticket and payment-status records6 years from the date of purchase, to meet accounting and audit record-keeping requirements
Your name, email and phone number as a customer contact record24 months after interaction, unless a longer period is needed for an unresolved dispute
Admission and scan records12 months after the event
Support correspondence with you24 months after your enquiry is closed
Marketing consents and opt-outsFor as long as we operate, so that we can honour your choice

Where a dispute, refund claim, chargeback, investigation or legal matter is ongoing, we keep the relevant information until that matter is finally resolved.

8. Cookies and session technology

We may use cookies and session identifiers that are strictly necessary to make the site work — keeping your ticket selection in place as you move through checkout, and protecting the checkout process against abuse.

We do not use analytics, advertising or behavioural-tracking cookies, and we do not allow third parties to place tracking cookies through our site. If this ever changes, we will update this policy and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before setting those cookies.

9. Marketing

We will not treat your acceptance of our Terms and Conditions, or your acknowledgement of this Privacy Policy, as consent to receive marketing.

We will only send you promotional messages about future events if you have separately and clearly asked to receive them. If you have opted in, every message will include a way to opt out, and you can also opt out at any time by contacting us using the details in section 1. Opting out of marketing does not stop service messages about a ticket you have already bought.

10. Children and young people

YoTicketAfrica is intended for use by adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from anyone under 18.

A parent or guardian may buy tickets for a child, in which case the purchase details we hold are those of the adult who made the purchase. Where an event has its own age restrictions, those are set by the organiser and shown on the event listing.

If you believe a child has provided us with personal information directly, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. How we protect your information

We use technical and organisational measures intended to protect the information we handle, including:

  • Encryption of traffic between your browser and our site using HTTPS/TLS
  • Restricting access to customer information to the people who need it to do their work
  • Password protection and access controls on our administrative systems
  • Keeping payment credentials entirely out of our systems, as described in section 4
  • Additional measures we use may be discussed on request

No online service can guarantee absolute security, and we do not claim to. If you believe your account or ticket has been compromised, contact us immediately.

12. If something goes wrong: data breaches

If a security incident affects your personal information, we will:

  • Notify the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ), as the Data Protection Authority, within 24 hours of becoming aware of the incident
  • Tell you directly, without undue delay, where the incident is likely to put you at risk
  • Explain what happened, what information was involved, what we are doing about it, and what you can do to protect yourself

13. Your rights

Subject to the limits described below, you have the right to:

  • Ask what we hold about you and get a copy of it
  • Correct information that is wrong or out of date
  • Ask us to delete information we no longer need
  • Object to or ask us to restrict certain uses of your information
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on your consent — for example, for marketing
  • Complain to us or to the regulator (see section 14)

How to exercise these rights. Email info@yoticketafrica.com with the words "Privacy Request" in the subject line, and tell us which right you want to use. We may ask you for information to confirm your identity, so that we do not disclose your details to someone else. We will respond within 30 days. If your request is complex and we need longer, we will tell you why within that 30-day period.

Limits on these rights. We may not be able to fully action a request where we are required to keep the information — for example, where it forms part of accounting records, where it is needed to admit you to an event you have already booked, or where it is needed to resolve an ongoing dispute or investigation. If we cannot do what you have asked, we will tell you why.

Exercising your rights is free. We will not charge you for a request unless it is clearly excessive or repetitive, and we will tell you before any charge applies.

14. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first using the details in section 1 — we would like the chance to put it right.

You also have the right to complain to the data protection regulator in Zimbabwe:

Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ)

15. Automated decision-making

We do not make decisions about you using automated processing alone in any way that produces legal effects for you or significantly affects you. Basic automated checks are applied to purchases to detect duplicate or fraudulent tickets, and a person will review any case where a purchase is declined or a ticket is blocked. If that happens to you, contact us and we will explain and review the decision.

16. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be published on this page with a new "Last updated" date at the top.

If we make a change that materially affects how we use your information, we will tell you directly — by email to customers with an upcoming event, and by a notice on our website — before the change takes effect.
